I feel the uses of my scholarship have been crucial to me securing two amazing opportunities, the first was the industrial placement year for 2018/19. Secondly, I have already been able to secure an exciting laboratory-based research project into a plant based anti-cancer molecule for my third-year dissertation. I am immensely excited to be able to start my third-year project and I believe my scholarship will be integral to continuing my success.

My dissertation for my BSc is based on geological mapping work…which is carried out during the summer break between years 2&3. A place of significant geological interest needed to be selected and thanks to the Lillingstone Trust scholarship I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Brazil to do this.

The funding has made my time at university easier and more comfortable as without it I would have struggled significantly. The NHS is incredibly short of doctors and my ambition to graduate as a doctor and help boost these vital numbers can only be achieved by continuing my studies. I won’t be able to do this without the support of the scholarship

I also put some of the money I received from the scholarship towards a trip to China in the summer. Through an application and interview process I have received a place teaching English in Guanghzou, China
